Coordinating Hurricane Dorian Food Relief Efforts

Disaster Food Connect is a centralized system of communication and coordination between food relief organizations in southeastern NC. The purpose is to avoid duplication of efforts, identify service area gaps, enhance collaboration, and maximize resources.

Participating organizations are entered into a database and they submit brief status updates on a regular basis. We then help reallocate supplies and other resources by connecting those with shortages to those with surplus.

HOW DISASTER FOOD CONNECT WORKS

Food relief organizations add themselves to the Disaster Food Connect database by completing the INTAKE FORM. This form will collect your organization's contact information, type(s) of services provided, and the geographic scope of your efforts. If you prefer not to fill out the form online, please call or text us at (252) 531-4566 [cell] or (910) 686-1233 [landline - please leave a voicemail] and we'll take your information by phone.

After completing the intake form, your organization's primary contact(s) will be added to our communications system. Based on your preference, we will either text or call you regularly to get STATUS REPORTS on any changes (could be daily or weekly, depending on the phase of recovery). This will only take 2-3 minutes to complete.

Based on info from status reports, Cape Fear Food Council volunteers will help reallocate supplies and other resources by connecting organizations with shortages to those with surplus.

In between daily reports, critical needs or sudden surpluses
